For more than 25 years we have been writing our own songs and playing a selection of covers that we like or that people ask for.

We like to develop new song ideas with fitting fellow musicians and try them out where you notice right away whether they land: live in front of an audience. Janine and Maik are the core of Volkmann.music, inspired by their children. Most of the time we play as a trio at selected events and private parties, with a mix of covers and our own songs.

The foundation was laid by Janine as a teenager: with her first own songs she toured various clubs and bars with her guitar and built up a small fan base. After the first professional studio recordings she went looking for musicians.

A few line-ups and gigs later she found the right musical partner: Maik. In May 2010 they became a duo. Since then the two have toured the country and, with various guest musicians, also play in different band line-ups on stages around the world, small and large.

We have several productions ready, but nothing officially released yet, because it was never a priority for us. With the right musicians and publishing, we will soon present complete songs for you.

Covering songs is a good school: you get to know music and keep your instrument and voice in shape. But it was clear to us early on that we did not want to be a pure top-40 cover band. What mattered and still matters to us is to develop our own ideas and songs, to polish sounds and beats, and to look at a piece of music as a whole.

Whether it is a cover or an original: what counts for us is fun and love of music. We want to put emotion and power into a message that moves all of us: joyful, danceable or touching.

We have played in various bands, among them Southern Road, MyVibeRocks and Nini & Mike. Today we bring our songs, sets and projects together on one platform: Volkmann.music.

Over the years many new songs, sound colours and live ideas have come up. That is why each direction now has its own project or format with room of its own. This way you find the sound that suits your occasion, your mood or your taste faster.

That is why we no longer perform as Southern Road or MyVibeRocks. Our name as a music group is Volkmann Music. The projects carry the sound colour in their name: Southern Road Country, MyVibeRocks Stadium Rock and so on, depending on which songs are played.

Depending on the occasion we come as an acoustic duo, party trio or electric band. We adjust equipment, volume and running order to the venue, the guests and the mood. That way your evening is not a standard programme but fits you exactly.
